Repo Man

365-111 Melt
Day 111/365

Bug saw an ad in the Scene magazine a few days ago that featured the Los Alamos Hotwire Tamale melt that was paired with the weekend showing of Repo Man starring Emelio Estevez.

The sandwich included plantain tamale, skirt steak, chili paste, red cabbage slaw, pepper jack cheese slices, and bhut jolokia (ghost pepper).

Upon receipt of the bags, I was asked to sign a waiver acknowledging that I am aware of what bhut jolokia is.  It wasn't very hot, so I used it as a dip for my fries.

The sandwich was all right. The plaintain tamale was interesting.

Earlier in the month, Bug was also salivating over the monthly specials, the Wet Hot Buffalo Chicken melt and the pumpkin pecan bread pudding.

Day 111/365 - Buffalo chicken

The Buffalo chicken melt was as expected - tangy from the sauce - and comes with ranch dressing to dip. If you love Buffalo wings and celery and bleu cheese slaw, this one would be right up your alley. The chicken breast was gigantic.

For dessert, we also ordered the pumpkin pecan bread pudding, which came with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.

Melt does the best bread puddings -- slightly firm in texture and yielding.

We didn't watch Repo Man, but the sandwiches were still pretty good. While writing this post, I have caught myself dozing at the keyboard several times. I suppose it is pretty late...

WE had a "Melt" open in SF recently that has all kinds of grilled cheese type sandwiches. I want to go to YOUR Melt as everything sounds so good!

Hi Mrs. L,

If you're ever in these parts, let me know! :) I am always amazed at how well they run their business - not only with well made food, but offering new dishes weekly/monthly in addition to the standard menu.
