What a rough start for this plant in the midst of this heat wave -- 96°F. Whew!

The color of the leaves remind me of red ti leaves, where only the perimeter is red and the center is green. These leaves unfurl asymmetrically from one another, unlike ti leaves. I've been unsuccessful in finding the name of this probably common plant.
